Gujranwala Railway station is located at the heart of Gujranwala city. Gujranwala Railway Station consists of 4 platforms. The biggest importance of this station is that it is attached to the main railway line between Karachi and Peshawar. The Ministry of Railways is working on the improvement of services at this station. Gujranwala consists of 3 railway stations: Gujranwala city, Gujranwala, and Gujranwala Cantt railways station.
Significance of Gujranwala Railway Station
The Gujranwala railway station plays a pivotal role from a historical and cultural perspective. Being one of the largest cities of Punjab and an important economical hub of the golden triangle (Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot), its railway station is vital for the connection between central, North, and South Punjab. historically the railway station was used to transport trade goods and military equipment. Some artifacts of the British rule still remain at the Gujranwala railway station like the Steam Engine pictured below.
